Our first and most challenging project, this large multifamily property outside of Houston, TX was built inside a 600 ft. long, 8,000 sq. ft. concrete retaining wall, just 10’ away from resident’s windows. This was a huge problem to solve in terms of the residents’ quality of life. The concept needed to be stylish, suitable for multifamily, and able to be completed relatively quickly with a small crew.

The client was interested in not only creating something that continued the property’s distinct mid-century modern aesthetic, but that told a story emphasizing the surrounding area’s history, landscape, and culture. Thirteen modernist scenes told a story, featuring alternating natural and urban imagery cascading down the long wall. The sunset-colored linework wove the scenes together and framed them, also evoking the facade installation on the building’s entrance.
